Also if you look at the account of Eve, she had been told about the danger.

All it took for her to step in it was a the idea that the deadly fruit would give her some knowledge, the fact that the tree looked good, and it would satisfy her body... as food.

Our lust, emotions & pride often overpower our rational thinking.

So all of us tend to question reliable info that doesn't line up with our desires.

Leads to irrational/idiotic choices.

And sometimes smart people are just plain ignorant that they are trying to operate based on false info ...lies.
